There are two things about which Indians go ga-ga over. Any guesses? Well it is one of the easiest things of all. Sports and Cinema are the two fields which never lacked fans. There is a huge fan following of the sportsperson and actors. What if the two merges? Just great it seems to be. We have seen our actors act on screen sportsperson but our players had been brave enough to manage the field as well as the camera. Let’s look at some of our star players who made it to the theatres after rocking the fields:
Salim Durrani: The current generation may have to put some emphasis to remember him but the reason why he made it to the list and that too, the first name in the list is because he is the first cricketer who made it to the Indian cinema. He was also the first cricketer to bag the Arjuna Award. He made his star appearance in the cinemas in 1973 in the movie ‘Charitra’ sharing screen with Parveen Babi.
- Dara Singh: You need no intelligence to remember his name. He was a respected being in both arenas be it sports or movies. This international wrestler has a long list of films which he graced by his honourable presence. The list exceeds over hundred films in approximation. He has been a real star.
- Kapil Dev: He acted as a player, coach and selector for the Indian Cricket team. He was the captain of the team when it claimed the legendary win at the Cricket World Cup 1983. An all rounder in cricket, it seems that his talents weren’t limited. He acted in several cameos in Bollywood movies and has endorsed many products as well.
- Dalip singh Rana: Confused? He is our very own ‘Khali’. ‘The Great Khali’, a well known name in the world wrestlers list. A real all rounder we may tag him. Before roaring in the rings he served as a police officer in Punjab. Afterwards, he also worked in Hollywood and Bollywood where he show cased his acting talents.
- Sunil Gavaskar: The all famous opening batsman of the past Indian Cricket Team, Sunil Gavaskar knocked the door of Bollywood and Marathi films to reveal his another talent. After retirement, Gavaskar made appearance in a Marathi film called ‘Savli Premachi’. He was also seen making a guest appearance in Hindi movie ‘Maalamal’.
Vijender Singh: The Olympic famed Indian boxer is soon to be seen in the cinemas as his debut movie is all set to amuse his fans. Vijendar Singh his making his debut in Bolllywood through his upcoming movie ‘Fugly’. After gaining all the popularity as a boxer let’s see how the actor in him comes up. Our good wishes with him.
